Work permit salary thresholds have gone up

by dhaval ramwani

This is probably the biggest visa/work-migration story for Ireland right now. From 1 March 2026, Ireland increased the minimum salary thresholds for key employment permits, including:

  • General Employment Permit: €34,000 → €36,605
  • Critical Skills Employment Permit: €38,000 → €40,904

Why it’s trending

This matters because it directly affects:

  • international graduates,
  • overseas job applicants,
  • employers trying to sponsor staff,
  • and people planning to switch from study to work in Ireland.
